Golf Up Privacy Policy
Golf Up is a mobile game made by Pocketpeak Studio ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data the game uses, why, who else handles it, and the choices you have. We are responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at support@pocketpeakstudio.com.
The short version
- You never create an account, and the game never asks for your name, email address or contacts.
- Your progress, coins, hearts and settings are saved on your device.
- We use a few trusted services to measure how the game is played, fix crashes and process purchases. They receive technical data such as device identifiers and your IP address. Our analytics never use your device's advertising identifier.
- The game does not show ads yet. When it does, personalised ads will be shown only with your consent where the law requires it, and on iPhone only if you allow tracking. You will be able to change your mind at any time.
- We do not sell your personal data for money.
What we collect and why
| Data | Why | Who handles it |
|---|---|---|
| Game progress and settings: levels, stars, coins, hearts, items you own, sound and vibration settings | To save your game between sessions | Stored only on your device |
| How you play: levels started and finished, shots taken, items used, purchases made, ads watched, time in the game; with your device model, operating system, language, app version, device identifiers (an app instance identifier and, on iPhone, the identifier for vendor), how you found the game (the install source), and your approximate location (city, region and country, worked out from your IP address). Not your advertising identifier. | To understand how the game is played, balance its difficulty and improve it | Google Analytics for Firebase (Google) and Mixpanel (stored in the European Union) |
| Crash reports: what the game was doing when it crashed, device state, an installation identifier | To find and fix crashes | Firebase Crashlytics (Google) |
| Once the game shows ads (it does not yet): IP address, device information, which ads you saw or tapped and, where ads may be personalised, your device's advertising identifier (the Google Advertising ID on Android; on iPhone the IDFA, only if you allow tracking) | To show ads, measure them, prevent ad fraud, and personalise ads where you consent | Unity LevelPlay (Unity Technologies) and the ad networks it works with, such as Unity Ads and ironSource Ads; or AppLovin MAX and the ad networks it works with, such as Google AdMob |
| Purchase records: what you bought, its price, currency and country, a transaction identifier and, on Android, the Google Play purchase record; with an installation identifier, device details and, on iPhone, the identifier for vendor. We never see your card or payment details. | To deliver your purchases and restore them, and for Unity to run and measure its purchase service | Apple App Store or Google Play (payment), Unity In-App Purchasing (Unity Technologies) |
| Your IP address when the game downloads its settings | To deliver the game's current settings (level rewards, prices, events) | Firebase Hosting (Google) |
| Technical device data such as hardware model and operating system | Collected by the Unity engine the game is built with, for Unity's own product purposes | Unity Technologies, under Unity's privacy policy |
| Your email address and message, if you write to us | To answer you | Us, through our email provider (Google) |
Notifications. If you allow notifications, the game reminds you when your hearts are full. The reminder is scheduled on your device; no server sends it.
Ratings. The game may ask you to rate it using your app store's own rating window. Your rating goes to the store, not to us.
Ads and your choices
The game does not show ads yet. When it does, this is how they will work:
- Consent. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the game will ask for your consent before ads are personalised, and you will be able to change that choice at any time from the game's settings. Until the game can ask, ads are not personalised there.
- iPhone and iPad. The game will ask permission before it can use your advertising identifier for tracking. You can change this in Settings ▸ Privacy & Security ▸ Tracking.
- Android. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device's Settings ▸ Privacy ▸ Ads (the exact path depends on your device).
- Without consent or tracking permission you still see ads, but they are not personalised.
- The Remove Ads purchase removes the ads shown between levels. Rewarded videos, which you always choose to watch, remain available.
Legal bases (EEA and UK)
We rely on your consent for notifications and, once the game shows ads, for personalised ads and tracking on iOS; on performing our contract with you to deliver and restore purchases; and on our legitimate interests in running, securing and improving the game for analytics, crash reports, fraud prevention and non-personalised ads. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests.
Who we share data with
Only with the service providers named above, which process data to provide their services, and where the law requires us to (for example, a valid request from a court). We do not sell personal data for money. Under some US state laws, letting ad networks use your advertising identifier to personalise ads can count as "selling" or "sharing"; you can opt out with the choices above.
International transfers
Mixpanel stores the game's analytics in its European Union data centre. Our other service providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EEA or the UK, they rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long data is kept
- Game data stays on your device until you delete the game.
- Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months.
- Mixpanel keeps analytics data until we delete it. We delete it when it is no longer needed to improve the game, or sooner if you ask.
- Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
- Ad networks and app stores keep data under their own policies.
- We delete support emails once they are no longer needed to help you.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its use, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use these rights, email us. Because the game never asks who you are, we may ask for details that help us find your data, such as your device type and the date of a purchase. In the EEA and the UK you may also complain to your data protection authority.
Deleting the game removes the data saved on your device.
Children
Golf Up is made for a general audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The game talks to its services over encrypted connections (HTTPS), and we limit who can access the data we hold.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and its date. If a change matters to how your data is used, we will also tell you in the game.
